It can be a difficult choice for you and your partner when deciding on where to host your nuptials. If you’ve ever dreamt of a romantic destination wedding to celebrate your marriage to the one you love, then I say “GO FOR IT”!
What could be more special than hosting your big day in a unique and whimsical setting, far away from all of the day-to-day stresses back home?
If you are considering a destination wedding but haven’t made the final decision, allow me to sway you in the direction of your dreams.
1. Combine your wedding and honeymoon
No need to worry about beginning your honeymoon with a serious case of jetlag, when you have a destination wedding. Ease into your holiday feeling happy, in love and already relaxed.
2. Choose Your Dream Venue
Once you’ve decided on a destination wedding, you can literally pick anywhere you like! From castles in the English countryside to cliff-top ceremonies on the Amalfi Coast, your choice is only limited by your imagination. P.S- Your partner’s imagination and sadly, your budget, may also be elements of this decision making process.
3. Intimate Celebration
Enjoy the happiest day of your life with the people who mean the most to you. It’s common knowledge that destination weddings are often smaller than a wedding hosted in your hometown, so only inviting your closest friends and relatives to the event is totally acceptable. It also allows you the freedom to talk about the event and trip with your work colleagues and personal trainer, without feeling awkward that you didn’t invite them.
4. Incredible Photos
Can you imagine your wedding photos atop a picturesque cliff along the Amalfi Coast? Or a happy snap of you and your partner smooching in front of the turquoise waters of Bora Bora? Okay, so perhaps I’m a tad obsessed about beach settings, but whichever beautiful location you choose, the photography is bound to be spectacular and very different from the surroundings that you’re used to.
5. Dare to Be Different
Hosting a wedding away from home is unique and special because it’s a holiday and the happiest day of your life, all in one! You know that relaxed feeling you get when you’re on holiday? Imagine how fabulously fun your wedding celebration will be when everyone is feeling relaxed and happy? It’s also a wonderful time to reunite and spend quality time with all your relatives, especially if you don’t normally live very close to each other.
Have you been dreaming of a wedding far, far away? Perhaps you’ve already hosted a destination wedding of your own? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments below.
Until next time,
