Everyone’s heard of the magnificent park located on the island of Manhattan. We’ve all seen it as the backdrop to many blockbuster films and some of us have been lucky enough to experience its spectacular beauty for ourselves.

Cloudehill Gardens

Just over an hours drive from Melbourne’s CBD, you will find a garden so beautiful that you’ll want to return to see it change from season to season.

Located in the picturesque town of Olinda in Victoria’s lush Dandenong Ranges, the Cloudehill Gardens are a spectacular place to visit, especially in the springtime.

There’s a certain calmness that comes over you while visiting the gardens and it feels oh so good to breathe in that lovely fresh air, away from all the pollution of the city.

There are beautiful sculptures and works of art dotted throughout the garden, winding paths to get lost on and gorgeous garden benches to enjoy a moments rest and to take in the magnificent view.

There were quite a few instances where I thought that we might have found ourselves in ‘The Secret Garden”, a childhood favourite book of mine.

For all the green thumbs who wish to visit, there is a wonderful nursery attached to the garden, run by the Diggers Club, where you can purchase some of the most beautiful plants and edible treasures to take home to your very own garden.

The Seasons Restaurant is open for a bite to eat after a day of wandering the gardens and entry to the gardens themselves is only $10 for adults and completely free for children and Diggers Club members.

I always enjoy visiting on a weekday because the weekends tend to be a tad busier and if you visit mid-week, it can feel as though you have the whole garden to yourself! Seriously worth it if you have the flexibility.

What I wore / Cloudehill gardens edition

Last week Danny and I happily ventured to the beautiful Cloudehill Gardens in the Dandenong Ranges.

I had some trouble deciding what to wear because the weather forecast informed me that there would be thunder and lightening in the area of Olinda (where the gardens are located). (more…)
